About

Hi I’m Lauren, a self taught graphite artist from Huntsville, AL.
My first artistic endeavors started when I was 7 years old and grounded in my room. I would draw cartoons, characters I created in my head, and eventually started drawing portraits when I was in high school. My first portraits were of Marilyn Monroe, then Audrey Hepburn. After that I was hooked. I would lock myself up in my room and just draw until my hands felt like falling off. Being a self taught artist comes with a lot of cussing and trial and error BUT it has helped my drawings evolve over the years into distinctive artwork.
I grew up watching old films with my great grandmother. These were some of the most precious times of my life. I’ve always been mesmerized by old Hollywood actors and actresses. Til this day I have a deep love for old Hollywood, which brought me to my series “The Golden Age”. This series never really ended, old Hollywood actors and actresses will always be my favorite subjects to draw. You will occasionally see them pop up in my work from time to time. For now I’ve stepped out of the Golden Age and have been inspired by all kinds of pop culture.
I’ve recently started experimenting and mixing different mediums such as graphite, acrylic, and mixed media art. I have found great joy in sticking different faces I draw onto old religious/renaissance paintings. While drawing has always been my happy medium, I’ve always loved painting as well. So I thought, why not mix the two? Which brings us to some of my new work where you’ll find me drawing the faces but painting the background.
Thanks for taking the time to check my work out! Laugh at it, cry at it, be mad at it, love it, hate it, I don’t care! We all have feelings and sometimes you just gotta let that shit out man. Enjoy!
